Steam Sale 2024

It seems like pre-2020, PC games used to have deeper sales. At some point when PC Gaming hit a critical mass of popularity, we mostly stopped getting crazy fire sales of games for pennies on the dollar. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of 90% off sales in this year's Steam Summer Sale, so I thought it'd be good to share those along with my haul.

Highlights

  • Disco Elysium - $4 - the best political commentary game of all time
  • Total War: Shogun 2 - $3 - considered one of the best old-school Total War games, up there with Rome and Medieval 2.
  • American Truck Simulator - $2 - it's more fun than you think. I normally hate ads but I like to mod this game to make billboards and stuff be real brands to make it really American feeling. DLC is kinda expensive though.
  • The Witcher 3 - $4 - or $13 for the complete edition. Just get it if you don't have it. This is the best modern fantasy game of all time.
  • Middle Earth: The Shadow Bundle - $7 - 2 great LOTR games for a very reasonable price. The nemesis system alone makes these worth playing.
  • Mass Effect Legendary Edition - $6 - 3 incredible story rich sci-fi RPG shooters with all content for an incredible price.

My Haul

  • Septerra Core - purchased for $3.19. I saw someone talking about it in a Youtube video that made it look really interesting.
  • Celeste - purchased for $2. I've heard of this game for a long time, and $2 is cheap enough to make me blindly buy something.
  • Doom Eternal - purchased for $10. I played it on console but never beat it. I also wanted to play it on the ultrawide.
  • Tales of Maj'Eyal - bought this for $3.49, for research reasons since I'm working on trying to program my own roguelike. I've read a lot of love for this one.
  • The Witcher 3 Complete - bought for $13 to play on the Ultrawide with mods despite owning on PS5
  • Forza Horizon 4 Ultimate - purchased Ultimate edition for 20 bucks since it's getting delisted this year, and I really enjoyed 5. Also for the ultrawide.
  • Mass Effect Legendary Edition I owned the original games on Xbox 360, bought the legendary on PS5, and now again on PC for that ultrawide experience. It'll probably be a while before I play this since I played the PS5 version recently.
  • Dicey Dungeons - I've been looking for a new roguelike and $3 is a very fair price for a game I've only heard good things about.
